The Most Wanted Electric Car
Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO has finally delivered the long awaited Model 3, which has pre-orders of 400,00 and is a major lever to the profitability of the company.
Elon Musk has been under immense pressure to deliver on his targeted 6,000 units per month of the Model 3, which heralds the democratization of electric vehicles. In an interview with the New York Times he said, “This past year has been the most difficult and painful year of my career.”
At his side throughout the whole process, has been Sascha Zahnd, VP of Global Supply Chain. Zahnd’s former work experience in IKEA as Head Division of Supply Chain Asia/Pacific (based in Shanghai) followed by six years in Swatch Group as VP of Supply and Procurement, gave him the indispensable instruments to keep abreast of the high pressure of managing demands and supply of Model 3 vehicles.
Zahnd is heavily involved with Musk in ensuring the supply chain is optimized. It is an incredibly complex balancing act of teamwork and technology, as Musk tweeted, “Excessive automation at Tesla was a mistake. To be precise, my mistake. Humans are underrated.”
Join us at WORLDWEBFORUM 2019 to hear how Zahnd had transferred his leadership skills and expertise from IKEA to Tesla while riding the ever-growing technological wave.
