With a background in creative agency and designer furniture and a passion for running, David Allemann has co-founded the world’s fastest growing running shoe brand that combines design and comfort, earning respect in a community that has long held onto established sports brands with much larger brand recognition and marketing budgets. The innovative designs were achieved through countless experiments (some of them involving pieces of cut-up garden hose), producing shoes that first amazed and has since delighted the running world.

The Swiss company On is successful worldwide. The idea for the light and trendy running shoe came to the founders in the Engadine. Soon On also wants to have a development location in the Engadine. When Caspar Copetti was recently on the road at Lake Statz, he noticed it: Almost every third person he met wore on-shoes.

For the Engadine co-founder of the company, this was a very pleasant experience. On started as a small fire in Zurich in 2010 with the aim of changing the world of running. Over the next eight years, On has conquered the hearts and feet of more than three million runners in over 50 countries. “Running like on clouds” is On’s slogan.

On fans include personalities such as US actor John Malkovich, Danish Prince Frederik and Google founder Sergey Brin. The Swiss triathlon Olympic champion Nicola Spirig has already switched to On in 2013. We were on a hike in the Val Trupchun and discussed the idea of creating a shoe for the perfect running feeling,” says Copetti at the Saratz Hotel in Pontresina. He and his team are currently on the road in the Upper Engadine with around 50 dealers and media representatives from home and abroad to test On’s new products.



David is driven by the power of creativity, bold new ideas and how to make them happen. After completing law school, he co-founded one of the first digital agencies in the pioneering phase of the Internet and helped to start the startup accelerator at McKinsey & Company. In the creative space, David was Managing Director of advertising agency Advico Young & Rubicam and CMO of Vitra, the globally renown design and furniture brand. David is working with leading designers, architects, storytellers, photographers and film makers and is a member of the Art Directors Club.

Together with Olivier Bernhard and Caspar Coppetti, David founded the Swiss sports company On in 2010 and received the Swiss Economic Forum Entrepreneurship award in 2014. He co-leads the company and oversees product design, marketing and the direct-to-consumer business of On. On is present in 50+ countries at more than 5’000 retailers, establishing On firmly among the global running brands. In fact, On has become the fastest growing running shoe brand globally.
