BIOGRAPHY

Kai Cui (46 years old) is Vice President of Fliggy, a tourism subsidiary of the Alibaba Group of China. Since joining Alibaba in 2016, Mr. Cui has been responsible for Fliggy’s business development for the European markets.

Since October 2017, he also takes over business development for Alipay in Switzerland. Alibaba’s mission is to “make it easy to do business eveywhere”. Kai Cui is committed to making Alipay and Fliggy a bridge between tourism service providers in Europe and the growing number of tourists from China.

Before joining Alibaba, Mr. Cui had served in the management consulting, investment advisory and the tourism industries for over 15 years. He holds a master’s degree in Informatics from University of Zurich and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Fudan University of Shanghai.

Fliggy is a Chinese online travel platform founded by Alibaba Group in Oct 2014. Fliggy currently has over 10,000 merchants on its platform providing airplane tickets, vacation packages, hotel booking services, visa application services and tour guide services.

By end of 2016 it had over 200 registered million users, 100 million downloads of its app. Fliggy aims to provide high-quality outbound travel services that are adapted to the variety of travel requests from the younger generation.

As an online travel platform (OTP), Fliggy acts as an online mall for brands. The flagship store, which is a main product of the OTP, enables brands to operate their own shop but provides them with marketing and data analytics support.
