Why you should listen

From a recent appointment as General Counsel of PAX Labs, LD Sergi been chosen preside as interim CEO of PAX at a time when vaporizer companies are under public scrutiny because of illnesses and deaths associated with the use of black-market and pirated vaping products. Pax created the Juul e-cigarette before Juul Labs Inc. spun off as an individual company in 2017. With her extensive legal experience, LD’s leadership will play a great role in navigating the tricky regulatory waters that currently faces the vaping industry.

In addition to the challenges that currently face vaping companies, Cannabis, a product that had been vilified and misunderstood for many years, is now gaining wider legalization and social acceptance. LD’s official mandate is to market the responsible consumption of cannabis via the PAX app that measures usage and sets consumption schedule and control. Within the social community, PAX has aligned with artistic and LGBTQ communities for special initiatives. In San Francisco, the company is helping build the first full-scale LGBTQ history museum through proceeds of special PAX products.

The company is venture-backed with Tiger Global and Tao Capital as top investors. It has recently acquired $420M in new financing which will be invested in an ambitious growth plan that includes user-driven design of new products and the penetration of new markets.

LD is no newbie to this controversial yet burgeoning industry as she has led the legal team of MedMen cannabis dispensaries in the past. She has helped take the company public on the Canadian Securities Exchange in 2018 and negotiated M&A agreements. Prior to MedMen, she was a partner at global consulting firms Deloitte and Rothstein Kass, and practiced law at O’Melveny & Myers, an international law firm. She holds a Juris Doctorate from UCLA School of Law.

Hear LD speak at the Worldwebforum 2020 about overcoming legal impediments and scaling consumer-facing, technology-driven companies from pre-product stages to at least $100M+ in revenue.
