Why you should listen

Wizards don’t just exist in Harry Potter – WORLDWEBFORUM is bringing on stage a Wizard from the future. Marco Tempest blends cutting-edge technology with the flair and showmanship of Houdini.

As a creative technologist, Marco Tempest experiments with the latest mixed reality, sensing and robotic equipment to produce outcomes that we could only dream of. He shows that technology can be a thing of awe and wonder, and need not be viewed as an intimidating disruption.

Hear Marco speak at WORLDWEBFORUM 2020 about how new technology can bring your business forward.

About NASA Jet Propulsion Lab

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory is a unique national research facility that carries out robotic space and Earth science missions.

JPL helped open the Space Age by developing America’s first Earth-orbiting science satellite, creating the first successful interplanetary spacecraft, and sending robotic missions to study all the planets in the solar system as well as asteroids, comets and Earth’s moon.

In addition to its missions, JPL developed and manages NASA’s Deep Space Network, a worldwide system of antennas that communicates with interplanetary spacecraft.

JPL is a federally funded research and development center managed for NASA by Caltech. From the long history of leaders drawn from the university’s faculty to joint programs and appointments, JPL’s intellectual environment and identity are profoundly shaped by its role as part of Caltech.

Today JPL continues its world-leading innovation, implementing programs in planetary exploration, Earth science, space-based astronomy and technology development, while applying its capabilities to technical and scientific problems of national significance.

JPL technology developed to enable new missions is also applied on Earth to benefit our everyday lives.

About magic lab

Magicians do the impossible every day. So does the magicLab. It’s a collaboration between technologists, illusionists and artists.

It’s a place where diverse disciplines lead to a shared goal; to discover the technology of tomorrow today.

Illusion Augmented Technology allows us to experience the impossible, to immerse ourselves in visionary technologies, prototype the future and engage the public through strong narrative and inspiring storytelling.

It’s where magic and science meet.

Biography

Marco Tempest specializes in developing immersive experiences of future technologies. Taking ideas about advanced technology, and how we might interact with it, and finding innovative ways to bring those concepts alive.

In his presentations he combines mixed reality, storytelling, gestural sensing and swarm robotics to give us a glimpse of a delightful augmented future right now.

He is a frequent keynote speaker at tech conferences around the world, a Directors Fellow at the MIT Media Lab and serves as a creative consultant at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, an Accenture Luminary, and Accenture’s Lead Consultant for Extended Reality.

Marco is the executive director of the NYC MagicLab, a science consortium exploring illusion and digital technology.

Applications include media, marketing, entertainment and the prototyping of future technologies via immersive experiences.

Marco is deeply embedded in the tech industry and has regular interactions with product teams in an advisory capacity or as consultant or developer for prototype consumer technologies.
