BIOGRAPHY

Nicola Harris is the founder of the Click Foundation, an education NGO premised on the belief that well implemented technology can close the significant education deficit in South Africa in an efficient, cost effective and scalable manner. Currently the Click Foundation scales software solutions in schools that teach the core foundational literacy and numeracy skills that form the basis of all future learning. The software programs are fun, self-paced and individualised and provide rich data that informs continual improvement in implementation and learner outcomes.

The organisation is well on its way to reach and impact one million learners by 2022.

In her role at the Click Foundation, Nicola leads the strategy, fiscal sustainability, data analytics,  and technology choices. Nicola believes that education is one of the most powerful levers to address Africa’s many challenges. She also believes that scalable technology is the only way to give all children access to a quality education, help them reach their full potential and empower them to contribute to their community and the wider world.

Nicola is also the founder of ArtAngels, a series of auction events in South Africa and London showcasing top South African artists to art investors in South Africa and London. The proceeds of the event support education in South Africa primarily through The Click Foundation.

Nicola was previously an investment banker focused on large transaction corporate finance in Australia and South Africa with Greenhill (formerly Caliburn) and Rand Merchant Bank.

Nicola serves on the board and advises several companies. These include:

  • African Leadership Academy, an education institution shaping tomorrow by developing young leaders with the courage to think differently, to break boundaries, to lead teams and enable positive change (www.africanleadershipacademy.org);
  • Rain, a new age Telco operator focused on making data accessible and affordable in South Africa (www.rain.co.za);
