FACTS

Atlassian

We believe all teams have potential to do amazing things.

From space travel and DNA sequencing, to video games and nonprofits, our mission is to unleash the potential in every team and help advance humanity through the power of software.

At Atlassian we’ve strived to create a culture of innovation that is inclusive and exciting, and a set of team rituals and a team playbook, that enables our teams to remain nimble, autonomous and focused.

As we scale, we continually evolve and experiment with our tools, playbook and general ways of working, so that we continue to delight our customers (internal and external), whilst having a positive impact on the world around us.

As we learn from these experiments, we plan to share them so that others teams in organizations around the world, can take ownership of their future of work.

Atlassian’s mission

There are only about 20m professional software developers on Earth. That small group has had an outsized impact on every aspect of our lives in a short amount of time.  Atlassian’s mission is to empower those teams (and all teams) to collaborate on the big problems and the next great breakthroughs in technology, medicine, science, business, the environment and education.

At the same time, we must help the next generation developers because 20m developers aren’t near enough to accomplish what has already been imagined.

Typical “modern” sales & marketing often feels like a game of uninspired incrementalism. Days upon days are consumed by the process of creating demand, defining what a lead is, qualifying leads, follow-ups, cold calling, sales training and then reporting on what dollar triggered what sale so that you can repeat the process all over again. Atlassian’s model is different.

track record of success

Sean’s overseen the go-to-market strategy for software products exceeding $4 billion in revenue in his career as marketing leader.

He started his career on the frontlines as an inside sales rep speaking to customers and closing one deal at a time.

In 5 years, he was leading the go-to-market strategy for a portfolio of products generating over $1 billion dollars in annual revenue globally.

Today he’s focused on continuing Atlassian’s impressive steak of growth through their unique model that relies on great products driven by word of mouth and the web.
