We believe all teams have potential to do amazing things.
From space travel and DNA sequencing, to video games and nonprofits, our mission is to unleash the potential in every team and help advance humanity through the power of software.
At Atlassian we’ve strived to create a culture of innovation that is inclusive and exciting, and a set of team rituals and a team playbook, that enables our teams to remain nimble, autonomous and focused.
As we scale, we continually evolve and experiment with our tools, playbook and general ways of working, so that we continue to delight our customers (internal and external), whilst having a positive impact on the world around us.
As we learn from these experiments, we plan to share them so that others teams in organizations around the world, can take ownership of their future of work.
There are only about 20m professional software developers on Earth. That small group has had an outsized impact on every aspect of our lives in a short amount of time. Atlassian’s mission is to empower those teams (and all teams) to collaborate on the big problems and the next great breakthroughs in technology, medicine, science, business, the environment and education.
At the same time, we must help the next generation developers because 20m developers aren’t near enough to accomplish what has already been imagined.
Typical “modern” sales & marketing often feels like a game of uninspired incrementalism. Days upon days are consumed by the process of creating demand, defining what a lead is, qualifying leads, follow-ups, cold calling, sales training and then reporting on what dollar triggered what sale so that you can repeat the process all over again. Atlassian’s model is different.
Sean’s overseen the go-to-market strategy for software products exceeding $4 billion in revenue in his career as marketing leader.
He started his career on the frontlines as an inside sales rep speaking to customers and closing one deal at a time.
In 5 years, he was leading the go-to-market strategy for a portfolio of products generating over $1 billion dollars in annual revenue globally.
Today he’s focused on continuing Atlassian’s impressive steak of growth through their unique model that relies on great products driven by word of mouth and the web.
Sean Regan leads the Software Teams group at Atlassian, which builds tools for software developers like JIRA, Bitbucket, and SourceTree, where he helps Dev and IT teams collaborate in building, running, and supporting software.
Sean Regan is proud to work at Atlassian, a leading provider of team collaboration and productivity software as the head of Marketing for their software business. In that position Sean has a ringside seat to watch how all companies are being transformed by software and the way software teams work.
Today a whole new generation of companies have turned the chaos of the market into their competitive advantage. Atlassian plays a central role in helping these modern team’s function with tools, culture & team collaboration patterns.
Sean started his career in IT when he received a firmly worded letter from Metallica’s and Dr. Dre’s lawyers about file sharing while working as a sys-admin—an experience that opened the doors to roles in security, compliance, e-discovery, and infrastructure technology.
