INSURTECH

The first wave of InsurTechs is slowly ebbing away. The expected impact on the market has largely failed to materialize.

Now a second wave is building up that really has the potential to change the insurance industry sustainably. As an answer insurance companies are now working more closely together with InsurTechs and combining the strengths of both in a smart way.

Based on concrete examples, this track session will show how the corresponding potentials of cooperations between insurers and InsurTechs can be implemented in a promising way.

InsurTechs & Incumbents – Co-operation, Competition or Co-ompetition?

Volocopter is one of the world’s most audacious ventures: Urban passenger mobility in the air. 100% electrical, little noise, and entirely autonomous. With Singapore and Dubai publicly committed to commercial pilot projects, this new form of mobility will be real much sooner than people think. Find out why would a 160 years old traditional Swiss insurer backs the company as an investor and is an ardent supporter.

Eco-System Home
Everything is an eco-system today, isn’t it? But what is it actually? What is it’s true value-add in the business world? How does it work in real-life? And how to you build it? Helvetia has been working on their Eco-System Home for more than 2 years now. Time for a review with lots of learnings to share.

Don’t hope, change!
The current low interest rate phase in Switzerland / EU / World is expected to last even longer. As a result, Fixed Income assets will yield inadequate returns. This poses particular challenges to financial industry incumbents, as it is becoming increasingly difficult to generate a sufficient return on assets and liabilities. In this environment, Insur-, Fin- and WealthTech solutions can help redesigning the concept of ‘return’ using innovative products based, for example, on the application of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning.

BENEFITING FROM INSURTECHS

That the first wave of InsurTechs did not disrupt the insurance business at all does not mean that it will not happen in the future. The insurance business will surely not be the island of the blessed which is passed by by the overall digital transformation.

Therefore there is now a window of opportunity to be at the forefront of such developments and Helvetia strives to benefit from it to successfully continue its history of the last 160 years also in the future.
